Day one
Our tour departs from Johannesburg. We shall drive to Shakaland in
the Kwa Zulu Natal province. A route from Vryheid to Eshowe via Ulundi known as Shaka's
Way, encompasses battlegrounds, memorials, forts and other reminders of the wars
between the British, Voortrekkers and Zulus. Experience the essence of Africa, pulsating
tribal rhythms, assegai wielding warriors and the mysterious rituals of the sangoma
interpreting messages from the spirits awaits you at Shakaland. You'll sleep in the cozy
cocoon of an authentic beehive hut, a unique experience of traditional Zulu tribal life,
with all the comforts of a hotel. |

Day two
After breakfast we visit Hluhluwe/ Umfolozi game
reserves. These two reserves, with a combined area of 96 000 ha. are joined by a corridor.
One of Africa' s conservation successes was the saving of the white rhino from extinction
in these reserves. They also provide sanctuary for lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo,
giraffe, cheetah and various antelope species. |

Day three
After breakfast we travel to the St Lucia Game reserve. St Lucia
Lake and its surroundings comprise a wetland of global importance. The reserve contains
some of the highest forested dunes in the world, as well as swamp and sand forest, palm
veld and various wood land vegetation types. Wildlife includes black rhino, sani, pangolin
and red duiker, marine turtles, breeding populations of pink backed pelicans, caspion
terns, flamingos, and the largest crocodile, hippo and reedbuck populations in South
Africa. Beaches within the Marine Reserve are the breeding grounds of the leatherback
turtle. |

Day four
Spend the morning at St Lucia Reserve before we depart
back to Johannesburg where you will be dropped off. You may also choose to spend another
day at St Lucia Game Reserve. |
